Does this price seem reasonable on this truck?

I went and drove a truck with my father today.

It is a 1993 F-150 SuperCab 4x4.
* 67,350 miles
* 5.8L HD V8, no problems
* Automatic transmission
* Automatic locking hubs
* A/C
* Bed liner
* Towing package
* Alloy wheels
* Power doors / seats / windows
* Cruise
* Canopy

The truck is in absolutely perfect shape. The interior could not be better, there's no evidence of any damage on the body either. The thing is, the guy's asking $8k for it. How much do you think it's worth?

200)?200:this.scrollHeight); overflow: hidden;"> 1995 Mazda Miata --------- I would say that doesn't seem too unreasonable given the low mileage and impeccable condition of the truck.

Have you tried pricing it out online somewhere? --------- Yeah, but that configuration is pretty rare in this area. Most of the trucks around here have extended cabs and wimpy beds.

200)?200:this.scrollHeight); overflow: hidden;"> 1995 Mazda Miata --------- Well, couple that rarity with the aforementioned traits (low mileage, great condition), and I'd say $8000 doesn't seem bad at all.

Of course, I'm no expert, but that's just my personal take. --------- kbb.com says for a '93 F150 4x4 Super Cab Long Bed with the mileage and options you mention says values, relative to condition, are as follows:

Excellent: $5,750
Good: $5,290
Fair: $4,690

I used a Seattle area zip code, so that may affect things a bit. Based upon this I'd say $8,000 is way, way too much. Give the website a shot. If nothing else, an excellent bargaining point is that these are the values that insurance companies will use to value your vehicle in the event of a loss.

The only other advice I'd give is that everything is negotiable. The last truck I bought started at $2,800 and ended at $800 a day later. $2,800 was a fair price (70s 4x4 Dodge Power Wagon with 60k miles). This was a retired guy who had purchased a new truck and had zero need for both an extra truck or for the hassle of dickering for a few thousand dollars. Find the the pain statement and exploit it.
--------- Oops . . . so much for my "credible" opinion, huh? --------- Kelly BB ain't perfect. When I bought my Miata, the price for a 1991 with no options in great condition was $3400 on KBB, but I'll be damned if there was even a Miata in poor condition for that price. It's all about looking at what other people are asking. I'd say $8k is a bit high, considering the age, but not by too much. I bet you can dicker him down to around $6-7k, which would be a great deal to about what the truck is probably worth. But look at other F150 prices first...

I stopped caring about constructive dialogue with brick walls a while ago. I've spent enough time making real arguments (check my post history if you like) and have decided that if someone shows no signs of intelligence after the first few posts, it's more fun to be an ass.

If we wait until the last minute to do things, they will only take a minute. --------- I'd say it's a high price for the age, if not for the miles. If he's basing the price on some of the 'extras,' I'd certainly try to talk him down a bit. You don't need to pay for his 'alloy wheels.'

By "Canopy" do you mean a topper? I can see him maybe jacking up the price for that. If you don't care to have it, I'd tell him to keep it. I hate those things, and when you want to haul something that won't fit under it it'll just be a pain in your ass to take it off and put it back on again.

Peace... --------- $8K is on the high side. I would pay that much for that truck if it were an F-250 or F-350 with a 460 V8. --------- KBB is a good tool, but like other people have mentioned, a car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. So look around for similar years, miles, and see what other people are asking. If you can't find trucks for sale that are even close to that one, well I guess the question is, is this truck worth 8k to you?
