Oh no!!!! the Exploer end it's #1 sales spot to the Trailblazer

Memo to Ford: The TrailBlazer also had to sell with high gas prices.

The Freestyle probably did encroach, however, but Chevy could also claim that the Equinox was eating TrailBlazer sales.

I'd explain it as a year that not only included the last year of an aging Explorer gen but also included a less-discounted (for a while) 06 redesign.

But excuses/explanations aside, better luck next year.

I am IFCAR and I approve this message. --------- Well, at least Ford can console itself with the fact that the Explorer is a much better vehicle than the Trailblazer.

--------- Yep, GM definitally has something to brag about here........... the Trailblazer lost less sales than the Explorer. Woohoo !!!!

Ok, I'm done being sarcastic. The Explorer also lost sales numbers due to the SportTrac ending production early this year, in preparation for the newly redesigned SportTrac. While I doubt the number is real high, it would have certainly been enough to cover a 5000 unit difference.

We'll see if the TB can sustain this next year. GM has cancelled its redesign, and are also cancelling the long wheelbase versions.

Lets not forget the TB also had to compete against the GMC,Buick,Isuzu, and Saab versions of itself too.

--------- Yeah... I sincerely doubt this will last through next year. On top of the Sport-Trac being shuttered, which was good for an additional 60-70,000 annual sales (http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/2007/ford/est/page1.html), Explorer sales were just starting to come out of their slump (ie, 2006 Explorer marketing kicking in), and there was a monthly increase in December over November sales.

200)?200:this.scrollHeight); overflow: hidden;"> --------- I am drawing straws here but the base engine in the Chevrolet is quite a bit better than Fords.

200)?200:this.scrollHeight); overflow: hidden;"> 2005 Equinox LS Salsa Red />1981 Bonneville "The last big RWD Bonneville" --------- There WAS a 2005 Sport Trac, guys. It's shuttered for '06, not '05. I worked at a Ford dealership and it was available in PLENTIFUL SUPPLY throughout the year. We had 13 on the lot for much of the time, only selling about 2-3 a month.

I hope GM at least thoroughly updates the GMT360s soon. They need it badly.

Had American Motors survived, theirs would be the cause we'd all be championing. --------- Incentives?

The king is dead, but besides the gas prices Ford dose say it's loss is also due to the Freestyle and Escape, it will get worse with the Edge on sell too.
