Most likely an independent shop will do it cheaper than a dealer and usually will roll the cost of the code reading towards the repairs of the car. I had similar problem with the ABS light during the winter. Driving through the snow caused some to be lodged in the ABS sensor and caused the lights to come on. Try cleaning the ABS sensors. Is your car still under warranty? If so try a different dealer if you don't like the current one. Take some brake cleaner and clean the ABS sensor ring at the hub and the pickup for the ring. You may have to remove the rotors and rotor shields. Rust shouldn't be an issue since the car is so new. Check for rust and debris on the ring anyway. Also check for metallic debris on the abs pickup rod that you see in the picture, with little shavings on it. Checking the codes may tell you which wheel sensor is bad, which will make your repair 1/4 as long as doing them all. Looks like this, might just help. http://www.corral.net/images/tech/abs/rear_ring.jpg Will try it out and let you know what happens on my thread. |
