I have a problem with my 528i. My key is in the ignition and is stuck. I can start the car, and then i can turn it off and turn the key to the acces. position, whereas the radio and headlamps are on. I can't move it to the next position to remove the key. I've tried jiggling the steering wheel and making sure it wasn't locked up, but the car has been draining battery juice for 16 hours now and this is looking rough... please please :help

You sure its not in park?? Hapenned to my friend once, we were sittin for like 3 hours wonderin why the key wouldnt come out and then randomly looked at the shifter and it was still in neutral. So check if its in park or not.. it is most def in park. I have a similar problem with my 525 which I haven't worked out yet. With mine sometimes when I remove the ignition key and open the door the "KEY IN IGNITION" warning comes on. When you try to insert the key and start the car it won't always go to the start or run position until you first convince it the key has really been removed. Needs to physically cycle through one key removal and insertion so I keep sticking the key back in and pulling it out until it makes that snapping noise which tells me the car finally believes the key has been removed. I don't know what the remedy might be but if you figure out what works for you please let me know. Lubrication? only thing i can think of is the wheel lock man |
