Hey guys,
I have been having some idling problems. I looked through the forums and it sounds like my throttle needs to be cleaned. I was if this is something that can easily be taken apart and put back together. Also, what do you use to clean it? Brake cleaner I heard? What is the best stuff to use?
Don't you mean idle control valve??
Idk... I was just reading other posts and they were saying the throttle butterfly, and all this stuff. I am planning on taking everything apart from the air filter to the engine. So give me tips if you have any:)
thanks
Clean both with carb cleaner. I'd remove the stabilizer valve (idle control valve) and clean it thoroughly. You can clean the throttle body with a little carb cleaner w/ a good rag. Not too much cleaner though as it is flammable and will ignite once the car is started.

He's right :)
I will give some more detail about what is wrong with my car.
When the lights are on and I am useing alot of electric power, the idle surges. The alternator was replaced twice with a rebuilt one. So I don't think it's that...
It also seems to be alot worse when it is cold and wet.
I was just asking about this actually, and the brake cleaner advice and the carb cleaner advice were helpful. However with the carb cleaner, when you're done, couldn't you just soak it in some gasoline and then let it dry out before reinstaling it? Would that help to keep it from igniting for those of us who aren't too keen on how much is too much? :P
If it's worse when it's wet outside, maybe there is a frayed wire somewhere on the underside of the car. It would probably be a wire that carries a lot of current, like a fuel pump, as opposed to a wire that carries a signal, like an o2 sensor.
Just a guess
