After 5 years without any maintenance, this weekend recharged the air conditioning system with total five 12oz cans of R134a.
Noticed that air is a little colder but not that cold as i think it should be.
Any advise? what else can be done as DIY before i give up and bring the car to the BMW dealer.

5 cans ????? you got a leak!!!! should never have to pump in more than 1 maybe 2 cans
If it is a leak, buy a can of leak stop and pump that in.
a small leak maybe, because the actual molecule of r134a is a lot smaller than that of r12. Usual suspect leaks on the e36's imo(since this is my 3rd) is at the site glass by the firewall. there are 2 orings behind it. your best bet, if you dont have a leak detetetor is to go to a shop and have them search for the leak
