Hey guys, i replaced my compressor due to the old one crap out on me and also the dryer. Can someone give me a good description of the evacuation and the refill process.. I have all the equipment (gauges, vacuum pump) but this is the first time i have ever done it. Please give me any tips you can, thanks! It sure is getting hot without ac!

What happened to the compressor? I replaced the compressor on my wife's Jimmy when it gave out, and I had the system flushed out and then serviced. There was all kinds of crap in there from the vanes self-estructing. So, get it flushed out or you'll be buying a new one again. I've never done the evac and recharge myself, but I think you suck the system down and let it sit for like 45 minutes to see if it will hold. Then do the recharge. Unless you happen to have an evacuator (I DO! *big smile*) take it to a shop youll never get the contanimants out w/o one. this is from a HARD CORE DIY'er... if you dont have one, just bring it in. |
