Simple question. Will OBD I coilpacks from a 325is work on a 3.2 that is being converted if I have a custom chip burnt for 24 lb injectors, 540i HFM, blah blah blah, stock cams? Just trying to get all the parts that I need before I do this swap.
Thanks!

Only if you change the valve cover.
Wouldnt I have to change it since the oil cap is in a different location? Or am I reading this wrong?
I just used the OBD1 valve cover on the 3.2 head. It keeps the wiring simple and you would use the old coils. The oil cap is in a different position, but thats determined by the valve cover
So what you are saying is, to make it simple, take the valve cover off of my 325is and put it on the 3.2? There is no difference between the two? Other than the oil cap placement?

There's a lot of difference that's the whole point.
1.) Oil filler hole is in a different spot.
2.) Coil-pack provisions are different.
3.) Wire routing is different.
4.) Oil drain back (on the inside of the cover) is different.
The 3.2 liter cover is a better cover, it doesn't turn but ugly like the magnesium ones on OBD I engines, and it's a lot easier to add oil.
However, since you would have to buy new coils for the OBD II cover I doubt it's worth the cost.
If I can find a set of 3.2 OBD II coils for a reasonable price would there be any wiring issues since it would be converted to OBD I? If so can you list them? I am trying to get everything lined out so I can get this swap over and done with. What are coil pack provisions? Would the wire routes be to short?
Thanks
My opinion is that it is much easier to use the obd1 valve cover since its plug and play. If you go and get your obd1 valve cover powdercoated, you'll be set. I had mine powdercoated in a wrinkle finish
the "provisions" are the mounts for the coil packs. They are different (I dont know why they did this)
Wouldnt it be easier to get the coil packs from turner, $25 each? Is the wiring harness different for the OBD II coils?

psk145 is correct the mounts are different. If you don't already know I have the whole OBD I conversion process documented on my sight http://homepage.mac.com/aceves/OBD_ONE1.html
Which reminds me the PVC valve on OBD II cover is also different. The link on my page for the necessary modification is broken but basically you cut off the tab on the OBD I PCV Valve and then reduce the circumference of the valve with a grinder until it fits in the OBD II cover.

Wiring is not different just the way the coils mount onto the cover and the cut outs or galleys where the wires are routed on the covers are different. Will require a tad of dremeling on the plastic of the OBD II cover to get the wire run correctly.
damn, thats a handy write up. That thing should be stickied somewhere.

I really need to fix that PCV link, you should see the amount of emails I get about that broken link.
Thanks for the writeup that will come in handy once I get all the required parts. What type of #'s were you putting down so I can get a roundabout figure to look forward to?
