the dealer told my all the bushings on my car are dried up and should be replaced, not thinking much of it, i asked how much because hey lets face it, they are basically rubber balls with holes in the middle, i needed, the control arm bushings, rear trailor arm bushings,
well those bushings came to $700 plus tax CAN
i was like are you out of your fucking mind!!!!
so i decided to leave it, because dried bushings are not worth a 700 dollar bill to me, n e one else disagree
i bet 90% of the people on here have dried up bushings
New control arm bushings and rear trailing arm bushings aren't necessary, as long as you can tolerate a shaky steering wheel, a harsher ride, increased tire wear, sudden (and potentially dangerous) rear suspension geometry changes upon acceleration, and the need for hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in repairs after your rear trailing arm brackets rip themselves out of the body.
:)
$700 sounds like a major rip off. you can find these bushings a lot in the road fly for sale section for a good deal. You should buy them there and than shop around for estimates to install them. I wouldn't think it would be over $250 in all.
well i crawled under there today and they arnt that bad at all, the bushings are dried up on the outside but when i picked a bit of dry stuff off underneath they were in very good shape, deffinitally not worth the change as of yet
There are DIY write ups on replacing the CABs and RTABs. The parts themselves are pretty inexpensive - it's the labor. I agree with gato, if you shopped around you could probably hire out and get both the front and the rear done for $250-300.
The RTABs are kind of tricky, but the front CABs are definitely a DIY proceedure with a few tools and a little patience.
You might want to consider getting the front done at one time and the rears at another to spread out the cost. In the end, you're going to get a car that not only will ride safer, but will also ride better.
