Hey guys,
About a week ago my secondary air pump has started making a horrible noise when it starts up... I don't really know how to describe the noise other than it sounds like something is grinding inside the pump. it's loud both inside and outside the car. I know it's nothing to worry about too much right now since it's not safety related, but it's awful annoying to hear and I imagine the car won't pass inspection this year if the pump goes out completely. so I'd like to get it fixed pretty soon.
Is this pump rebuildable? And if so, is it worth doing rather than buying a new pump? How much does a new one cost? I was looking at bimmerparts and couldn't seem to locate this pump in their online catalog, but it looks like it would be a super easy DIY replacement job if I had a good pump to replace it with.
