Home-Brake Light Circuit ????

Brake Light Circuit ????

Hi, Im new here. I might come here everyday, ( the reason )
I just bought a 328 convertible and this is my first BMW.

So I was heading to school the day after I bought the car and this message appear to me in the computer. Brake Light Circuit.

Does anyone knows what could it be, how could I fix it.

And then I keep getting this message too. ( Check Coolant level )

Can I just pour water or do I need to get the BMW coolant.

:help
I dont have the owner's manual yet, I
already order it from EBAY

:chix

Thanks..

It is great to have a new user. You should use the search tool for both your problems. Many things will come up and will be very helpful for you.

Thank You, I'll try it.

ok. I just found it,
It's a switch and cost about 10 dollars and it's easy to replace

and yes, don't get it from the dealer

thank you again

Brake Light Circuit is a regular pain in the butt...

I'd be a bit more worried about the coolant level if I were you. Get that figured out.

I'm not so sure about "easy." You have to contort yourself into various seemingly-impossible positions to get to it. However, once you know what to do, it's not that hard, actually. It's just more of a pain in the a$$ than anything.

It took me two tries -- got fed up the first time and gave up.

As for the coolant level, it could be that you have a slow leak (bigger problem -- need to replace something like a hose or clamp or gasket... hopefully not leaky radiator) or your coolant level sensor has gone bad (small problem -- easy fix). Figure it out soon, though. You don't wanna get stranded on the side of the road with an overheating car.

Thanks for all your help guys.
I really appreaciate it.

About the Coolant level thing,

there are no leaks in the car, Im positive about that.

What happens is that I just bought the car, and I asked the dealer and they said they did maintanance to the car like two months ago, I figure they flush the coolant and didn't put enough coolant. I do not know.

By the way, could I just put regular water, of the BMW coolant.

THere is a BMW dealer like 10 minutes from where I live, I could go there to buy it.

No, you have to use distilled water. It doesn't matter if you put distilled water, BMW coolant in there. It just depends on what kind of mix you want to run. 50/50 is the general all purpose mix, but if you live in a climate where it doesn't get too cold, you can run more water, which lowers the temperature. Don't forget to add Water Wetter.

Larry

I don't think Water Wetter is necessary unless you're running the Fan Delete mod.

Hey, thanks again. By the way what's the Fan Delete modification ?
What does it does
